It can catch a fish
This is a perfect ultra light - light setup. It’s cheap, portable and easy to assemble. Once you’re done, you can just shove it in your pocket. It comes pre spooled with 8-10 lbs test mono line. One of the eyes was loose, but superglue does the job. I use it to catch panfish for bait. Overall it’s a great addition to my fishing collection.
Not a bad rod to have tucked away just in case!
The media could not be loaded.
I had to see if it would hold up to the hype or not. I have to say, after testing it on a bike ride with some Largemouth... I am impressed. I had a couple of bass try to run into logs, with a little finesse I was able to move them out and land them. One thing I did do before using it was remove the line that came on it, and I replaced it with some 6 lb test that I trusted.
Big and small this rod and reel will handle them all
Have you ever been traveling and wondered if there’s anything in that small lake or stream? Did you wish you happened to have a travel rod handy? My wife got this exact set up for me for Christmas so I could keep it in my car. I took it with me on vacation this year. It made it through TSA security in my backpack just fine. It’s a light and sensitive enough rod that even small fish put up a nice fight, but the bigger fish are so much fun on this rod and yes, it will hold up against to larger sized lake fish even at the 1.4 m (size 55in)That being said, this is not perfect. But you cannot beat the price and the amount of fun you can have with a product like this. The first thing I did was get rid of the line and put in a 6 pound monofilament. The metal collars will come loose but you can reattach them with a bit of hand pressure and a dab of glue. I did my find myself having to occasionally readjust the rod to make sure the eyelets were properly lined up to prevent wind knots but even with that, being able to bring a rod just about anywhere as well worth the little bit of extra attention this rod will need while you use it.That being said it casts excellently. I get plenty of distance, casting Panther Martens on these. It also works well for trolling from a kayak.Perfect? no.well worth the money? Absolutely. the pictures speak for themselves.
It works that’s all that matters!
At first it feels cheaply made but after catching a couple of fish I changed my mind it’s pretty tuff not recommended for catching big fish but I will put it to the test, does pretty good with 1 to 2 foot catfish I have 4lb braided line put on and it’s not bad it’s just a fun little rod to throw in the water
Great rod for smaller catfish and carp
I bought the 38in one and put some 8lb mono on it for a ultralight catfish set up and it holds up better than I expected. Only bad thing was the line that it comes with.
Does the job
Surprisingly strong and high quality! Watched some videos before purchasing and it seemed like a good product. This listing has exactly what I was expecting based on my research. I caught a nice walleye my first trip with it and it seems to have good casting distance!
Jiging rod
Only use light mono on it, 6lb test max, 4lb is better. gets tangled if you reel in with out tension. My favorite jiging rod, catch monsters with it all the time. I leave small jig head on it in water proof case, hides under my seat,Very convenient,
It kind of works
Update. I duct taped the the first and largest section that comes out and duct taped the reel seats and for fun added some lizard skin bat tape and then took that terrible line off and put some spare 6# braided line on the reel. Now it will carry with a 1/8th weight on it a 30 to 40 yards. Much better but not changing my rating as they have some serious quality control to do but for this price you get what you pay for.So the pro is it's small and can go anywhere. Cons for me were casting is not great and goes maybe 20ft with a heavier lure. A braided line would fix this a little and the line memory. Reeling in is rough as it's just so small but it does reel. I can work with all that but in mine the bottom section and the biggest part did not stay up. It's collapses when I try to reel and that is why I can't use it and the seats for the reel are terrible so you will need to zip ties or tape after you seat it. If I had one that would stay extended It would be a better review and some heavier duty seats.
Worth every penny (1.0m)
I bought this because I wanted something I could fit in a tackle box and not have to lug my rods around all the time I started with the 1m one and have caught tons of bluegill on this! Gonna try the 1.6m one and review that next
Very Capable
Holy H311 fight onVery very ultralightSpooled some 10lb braidOnly down side is the drag adjustments aren't very gradualHowever very impressed with its capabilities
Definitely recommend
We went on a last minute trip to St Croix US Virgin Islands. my son and I like to fish and since we rented a house right on the beach, I wanted to bring 2 fishing poles. I came across these collapsible fishing rods and figured Id give them a try. I bought two of the 1.4m length. very compact. easily fit in our luggage. Honestly, I was very surprised at how far I could cast with these little rods. Using a heddon super spook jr lure, I caught a barracuda from the shore as you can see in the picture. I was worried the rod would snap as I was reeling in the barracuda but to my surprise, it didnt break. It was worth every penny in my opinion. as a side note, a few times the line bunched up around the reel when casting. possibly user error. I did bring extra line just in case something like this happened.
It’s works!!!
This product all though tiny, works just like any other fishing rod. After about 10 minuetes I was able to catch a leopard shark!!! If you do not want to buy an expensive or big rod, this is the product for you.
Ok for the price
This was a cool little buy. It was a little cheap but that's what was expected. The only problem was the tip seemed to be a bit defective. It was thinner in one spot than the rest and would definitely snap at the first tug of a fish.
Perfect
Was out fishing with my wife and brothers. My wife’s sister decided to join us later in day and didn’t have a pole. So I gave her my good one and busted out the baby pole. To my surprise this thing worked flawlessly catching 10 or so decent sized fish with not a single problem.
Replace line
Rod and reel work very well. I recommend replacing the line. The line that comes on the real is not very good. Once you tighten the lock for the reel this is a good fishing pole. Castes pretty far and I caught a little small mouth with the set up.
This said expedited shipping but it failed to say it was from China so it was a very long delivery and when we received it the box was completely ripped open.
Works great..
Although I haven't written a review on this product yet... according to an email I received saying I haveIt is a great little fishing pole...
Small yet sturdy
Great for backpacking super easy to set up and breaks down very small does not take much room in your backpack and adds more fun to any trip you go on! Pick one up you can't beat it for the price!
Reel deal
This 2nd one replaces (quickly shipped - thanks) the first one (damaged drag wheel, un attached end ring and one lower ferrule) and so the rod is ok, light action tip but overall the lengthened rod seems to bend well; bail on reel is "sticky" - doesn't flip back easily so requires "a running start" of 1 full rotation to snap it into place or just flip it back over by hand after casting the line. Smooth and small switch takes it from one rotation into bidirectional rotation. Have used the slightly shorter version and taken 8 and 10 inch lake trout with very small spinners and streamers. Easy to backpack. Due to small reel diameter need to use softer line.
Nice reel
Everything runs smoothly, but I put a little extra grease on the gears, and the line it comes with has too much shape memory and tangled on the first practice test cast; throw it out and get a good line other than that five stars.
Caught small fish on it. keep reel lubed, dry. eyes' need too be glued better. BUGOUT,Survival,EDC
There are better poles/combos for the price., BUT this thing is SMALL..The reel is not too bad, does not hold much line, but enuff to cast out a cpl yards. 2-3lb test max..Cool thing is how the pole itself closes up,About size of a larger sharpie marker. The eyelets are poor design, Put a dab of epoxy or super glue/epoxy etc. on them too hold them in place. This is something i would put in a bugout bag, survival kit, or if you like too fish while on a trip, i guess this would work. The more you open and close it, the more its eyes get week, loose, slide off etc.The eyes are very tiny.It will cast a lure or something out there a bit, but its not no ugly stick.I like it cause its cool, and it can reel in a small fish.I keep it under seat of my truck\. I have taken it with me on trips. Its ok in fresh water, but It WILL rust up, corrde inside reel, so id soak it with wd40, lube, etc while not using. Keep it dry and lubes, add some supper glue too eyelets.
Kinda cool
I bought this to add to a small survival kit. It seems legit for some small fish I would love to put one in each of my vehicles for spontaneous fishing trips.
Fun Pole for Travel
Surprised how sturdy the pole is when extended. This is a fun gift for the traveling fisherman. Still trying out the little reel, but seems pretty good!
Not just a novelty
Brought this ice fishing and pulled up a good 16" trout! Held up well and worked like a charm! The tip spinters from having a hard time retracting it, but still, great for the price!
Nifty and Fun, but a Cheap Little Piece of Whatever from Wherever
OK, let's be real: This is a cheap little novelty telescoping rod for kids. You won't land a salmon with it, and it tangles like a sonofagun frequently. I ordered two of them, and one of the reels was so stiff it was unusable, so I had to return it and buy another. There is no such thing as a reel this small sold anywhere else. So there's that. And if you pull hard opening them you can separate the rod sections from each other (and just jam them back together). On the plus side, I guide hikes and I like to have some reels for the kids to use for little bluegills and finger-sized trout and suckers. And to be able to drop these pen-sized, brightly colored gizmos in my pack without having them banging around strapped outside or snagging on my other gear has made my life easier. The reel handles do fold in to minimize space further. And I have had kids successfully pull fish out of the water with them.If you want to have a reliable, sturdy rod for your truck for bringing home dinner and then pass it down to your heirs, look elsewhere. But for a little fun in a tiny little package, I'm a fan.
